The Social Good Fund: Mobile App MVP Campaign is an $11,000 fundraising campaign to fund the development of an MVP (Minimum Viable Product). Below is Vanessa’s description of the goal of the mobile app:
Growing up in the suburbs, I never had access to public transportation. When I started driving, I realized how expensive maintaining a car is, and that not everyone has access to private vehicles. Even if car ownership doesn’t create a financial burden for some, widespread single-occupant vehicle travel is concerning for the sake of the environment, traffic congestion, and increased costs of maintaining roads. Public transportation does not reflect the needs of its communities, particularly in recently developed suburban areas. In 2023, I developed the concept of an app for public transit systems where users could request new routes, leave reviews on their experiences, and access current bus schedules in one easily accessible place. We founded Leveraged Good and the Social Good Fund, intending to make this app a reality to address social, financial, and environmental concerns that inefficient and outdated public transit systems present to our society.
